FAQ & Requirements

What ID should I have ready?
California requires a current, government-issued photo ID for every signer. Acceptable forms include:
California driver’s license or ID card
U.S. passport or passport card
Driver’s license or ID from another U.S. state
Canadian or Mexican driver’s license
U.S. military ID card
Consular ID or passport from your country of citizenship
CA state/city/county employee ID card
Federally recognized tribal ID card

ID must be current, or issued within the last 5 years, and must match the name on your document. No valid ID? Two credible witnesses can vouch for your identity instead — just ask when booking.

Can you give legal advice or prepare my documents?
No — California notaries cannot give legal advice or draft legal documents. I notarize signatures on documents you or your attorney provide.
Do you offer remote online notarization (RON)?
Not yet — California hasn’t finished implementing its RON program for California-commissioned notaries. I’ll update this page the moment that changes.
